THE PRODUCT
By “reinforced soil” we intend a multi-faceted system using two different materials: the soil and the double-twisted reinforced mesh. The geotechnical properties of the soil (compression resistance and cutting) are improved thanks to a double-twisted
mesh reinforced (traction resistance) and are able to built stable cliff faces with high inclination levels and with reduced transverse sections. The so-called system “reinforced soils” includes three elements: double-twisted mesh, filling material
and facade elements. The reinforced soil-support structures are widely used in low-environmental impact interventions of soil protection; the main areas of applications are:
− roads and railways;
- restoration and consolidation of lands affected by landslides;
- profiling of canals’ banks; environmental restoration;
- rock climning barriers;
- anti-noise barriers.
The inclined-facing reinforced soil GREEN SOIL IRPID permits to create green cliffs up to 65°. It is necessary a welded steel meshed-molded quarterdeck to guarantee driving and supporting functions. Besides the quarterdeck, the use of either a
biomesh or a biomat is fundamental to contain the vegetal soil behind the facing-reinforced soil and to favour the greening of the walls. The vertical-wall reinforced SOIL IRPID implies the use of a box gabion with a double-twisted mesh. To facilitate
the integration of the work within the environment it is possible to insert vegetative pockets.
